In 2017, DTS² designed and installed a unique towing installation on behalf of the municipality of The Hague.

What is special about this installation is that all lifting systems can move horizontally over the entire length of the hall. This ensures an extremely flexible use of the towing and chain hoist installations. Any configuration of the room can be realised in a very short time.

The installation is divided into 3 levels.

  • The bottom level consists of fixed bridges around which 3 mobile bridges move. This allows the user to access the lifting installations and set lights at any position.
  • The second level consists of 12 mobile thru-axle winches. These winches can be positioned anywhere at a distance of 200 mm. The winches are controlled by an Art-con S SIL3 controller, which allows use over people. The theater can therefore receive all kinds of performances.
  • On the third level are the chain hoists, which can also be moved over the entire auditorium surface. This allows the user to create lifting points at any position.

A new type of truss has also been designed for this installation. This truss consists of aluminium extrusion profiles. Fully internally wired sockets are built into the upper rectangular profile every meter for lighting, which are powered via Harting connectors on the side of the truss.

The bottom round profile is 50 mm in diameter and has a rail profile for curtain runners at the bottom. By using aluminum extrusion profiles, the truss is very low in weight while still achieving extremely high stiffness.
